UMN Boy Scout STEM Merit Badge Fair 2018
Opportunity to earn merit badges related to science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM)
DATE AND TIME
216 Pillsbury Dr SE
Minneapolis, MN 55455
All each scout needs is to by tickets from eventbrite at https://axs2018.eventbrite.com and fill out the media release form pdf. The form can also be filled out at checking the day of the event. Merit badges will be completed in their entirety. If you could contact the troops in your area about this event that would be great. We hope to see you there!
This event will provide local Boy Scouts the opportunity to earn merit badges related to science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM). There will be two merit badge sessions during the day, with science demonstration shows in the morning and afternoon. The cost of attendance is $12 per scout; if cost is too high, please contact email@example.com so we can work out a solution. Check in and the science demonstrations will take place at Nicholson Hall room 155 in the morning and evening. The closest parking garage to Nicholson is the Church St. Garage. The merit badges and lunch will take place on the first and fifth floor of Bruiniks hall. Parents and Scout leaders will be able to wait in room 114 while the merit badges are going on. Unless a scout requires special assistance, we ask that all parents and leaders are not present during the merit badge sessions.
Lunch will be provided from subway, and it will consist of a 6-inch sub, a bag of chips, and a cookie. Because this is a large order the sub sandwiches will just be the standard ingredients. If there are any dietary restrictions please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. If an adult leader or parent would want lunch from subway as well please give a $6.50 donation for us to buy an extra meal. Only one meal will be bought per ticket without a donation. If parents or leaders want to take scouts out to lunch that is fine; just be aware that the scout should be back within the 45 minute lunch period so they don’t miss any of their merit badges.
8:00 - 8:30 -- Check in
8:30 - 9:00 -- First demo show

Scouts should arrive and check in at Nicholson Hall no earlier than 8:00 and no later than 8:45. Scouts may be picked up from Nicholson Hall beginning at 3:30, and should leave by 4:00. It is important to note that the campus buildings this event will take place in are controlled by the university. The doors will not open until 8 am, so if you get there before 8 be prepared for us to take a few minutes to set up. Secondly, the rooms will close exactly at 4 pm, which means that we will be able to leave rooms but not get into them. We will double check rooms but if anything is forgotten we will not be able to get back into rooms.

Terms & Conditions
Alpha Chi Sigma and partner student groups will help the scouts earn badges, but ultimately the responsibility for earning them falls on the scouts. Thus, we cannot guarantee that all scouts will complete their badges in the time available. That said, we will do everything that we can to make sure Boy Scouts are able to earn their merit badges.
It should also be noted that all boy scouts should be wearing their uniforms at all times as this is an official scouting event.
The University of Minnesota requires us to have you sign a media release form and liability waiver, which will be provided before the event.
The University of Minnesota also requires us to include the following statement:
"The University of Minnesota is not endorsing or sponsoring the activities conducted by Alpha Chi Sigma on the University of Minnesota campus. The relationship between the University of Minnesota and Alpha Chi Sigma is solely that of licensor and licensee.”
